About TTI
TTI, Inc. is a global electronic components distributor, supplying critical parts to manufacturers worldwide. With over 200 locations spanning multiple continents, dozens of languages, and a complex network of subsidiaries including Mouser Electronics, Sager Electronics, and the Exponential Technology Group, TTI operates at a scale that makes sustainability reporting uniquely challenging.
As a distributor rather than a manufacturer, TTI occupies a distinctive position in the supply chain. The company doesn't produce components – it moves them. This business model meant that when sustainability pressures arrived, the team faced a fundamental question: how do you measure and manage emissions across a global logistics network without disrupting the operations that keep customers satisfied?
The Challenge
TTI’s customers, many of them subject to their own reporting requirements, started demanding sustainability metrics and needed TTI to quantify its environmental impact. The company also found itself needing to comply with new regulatory requirements mandating disclosure, including California’s SB 253 & SB 261 and Europe's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). With plans to set science-based reduction targets and to conduct Scope 3 reporting, the team knew they would need to enhance the rigor of their approach. But their existing approach – a team of two managing 200 global locations through Excel spreadsheets and SharePoint – couldn't deliver the accuracy stakeholders were demanding.
"We did a quality check of our manual collection and found so many inaccuracies," explains Meredith Smith, TTI's Manager of Sustainability. "Contributors weren't using appropriate measurements or just didn't understand the task. When you have 26 people working in spreadsheets across the globe, the probability of human error is enormous. We needed to automate for accuracy."
The Solution
TTI evaluated several major platforms before selecting Gravity. The platform's API integration capabilities proved decisive: rather than manually pulling data from utility providers across 200 locations, TTI could connect directly to utility accounts and have information update automatically. The dashboards made complex emissions data immediately accessible and understandable.
"The speed of the platform was incredible," recalls Aadhar Kulshrestha, TTI's Sustainability Analyst. "And being able to customize how we see our organization—the hierarchy, the access levels—that was a huge bonus. We could take what we had designed in SharePoint and continue to see that same relationship of organizations in Gravity."
Implementation moved quickly. Where competitors quoted multiple hour-long check-ins per week, Gravity's onboarding required just 45-minute sessions every two weeks. TTI added complexity by requesting four years of historical data dating back to 2020. Within eight weeks, they had measured Scope 1 and 2 emissions for all 200+ locations across four years of operations.
When TTI tackled Scope 3 measurement, the platform's methodology guidance helped them navigate complex calculations and communicate requirements to internal stakeholders. Their first measurement took six to eight months, largely due to building internal relationships and gathering cross-departmental data. Their second measurement, for the following year, took just three months.
"I wasn't only looking for emissions measurement," Smith notes. "I needed something I could trust, something I felt confident with. I couldn't feel like a number. Gravity felt like an extension of our team—a true partnership."
The Impact
The numbers tell part of the story: four years of emissions data captured in eight weeks, Scope 3 measurement completed in three months, and a successful third-party audit verification across Scopes 1-3. But the deeper impact lies in what TTI's sustainability team can now accomplish.
Before Gravity, emissions data consumed the team's bandwidth daily. Now, year-end analysis requires only a few weeks of focused effort. The team estimates that without the platform, they would need eight to ten people to accomplish what two now handle.
"Two years ago, I wasn't able to think long-term, I was analyzing data," Smith reflects. "All of that bandwidth was consumed by manual work. Now we can focus on strategic projects and future planning."
That strategic focus is already paying dividends. TTI has established revenue-intensity reduction targets and is working toward longer-term commitments. They're building a supplier capacity program to help partners who haven't yet developed their own sustainability capabilities. And they're using Gravity's due diligence tools to issue supplier questionnaires, track responses through dashboards, and identify hotspots across their supply chain.
"Gravity has become a bedrock of our sustainability program," Kulshrestha notes. "When you look back, it gives you perspective on how far we've come. A lot of our initiatives wouldn't even be in the realm of possibility without this."
Looking ahead, TTI plans to mature their Scope 3 measurement from spend-based to process-based approaches, enabling more precise tracking and targeted reductions. They're also attempting to secure long-term strategic commitment, transforming sustainability from a compliance exercise into a core part of how TTI operates.
"We can get done in months what would have taken us years," Smith concludes. "That's the difference."
